We Turn Data Into Economic Stories That Shape Communities.
Made Strategies helps governments, institutions, and regions understand their economies—past, present, and future—through rigorous analysis, place-based history, and decision-ready insight.
Real stories, real impact.
What We Do
Made Strategies conducts full-spectrum economic impact analysis that goes beyond farmgate values, job counts, or isolated sector studies. Using integrated input-output models, verified local data, and nationally aligned frameworks, we trace how production activates labor, infrastructure, trade, public services, and long-term asset value. The result is decision-ready analysis that reflects how modern economies function across interconnected systems.
Includes:
Sector-wide and commodity-level economic modeling
Direct, indirect, and induced impact estimation
Alignment with USDA, BEA, NAICS, and Census frameworks
Identification of undercounted and externalized economic value
Clear translation of technical findings for policymakers and the public
Economic Impact & Systems Analysis
Place-Based Economic Strategy
We specialize in place-based economic strategy that connects historical context, land use, infrastructure, workforce, and market dynamics into a coherent narrative. Rather than treating economies as abstract datasets, we analyze how geography, water systems, governance, and cultural assets influence growth and resilience. This approach helps regions understand not only where they are, but how to plan where they are going.
Includes:
Historical and institutional economic analysis
Land use and infrastructure-driven growth strategies
Water, workforce, and logistics integration
Regional storytelling grounded in verified data
Strategy frameworks that scale from local to global contexts
Public Sector & Institutional Advisory
Made Strategies works directly with cities, counties, state agencies, universities, and public institutions to support planning, policy, and investment decisions. Our deliverables are designed for real-world use—Board presentations, legislative briefings, grant submissions, and public-facing reports—while maintaining methodological rigor and audit-ready documentation.
Includes:
Board- and Council-ready reports and presentations
Economic dashboards and briefing materials
Grant and funding alignment analysis
Inter-agency and institutional coordination support
Public communication tools that translate complex analysis into clear insight
Custom Research, Grants & Strategic Advisory
We provide custom research and strategic advisory services for regions and institutions pursuing grants, infrastructure funding, or major policy initiatives. Each engagement is tailored to the client’s objectives, funding landscape, and regulatory environment—ensuring that economic arguments are both analytically sound and strategically positioned.
Includes:
Grant-aligned economic justification and data support
Infrastructure and investment impact analysis
Policy-driven research and scenario modeling
Stakeholder and institutional mapping
Scalable frameworks that can be reused across programs and regions

Made Strategies applies a place-based, systems-oriented approach to economic and community analysis. Rather than treating issues like land use, housing, agriculture, infrastructure, and workforce as separate silos, we examine how they function together in real-world conditions. Our work blends verified data, historical context, and applied economic modeling to produce analysis that is both technically defensible and operationally useful.
We focus on outputs that agencies actually need—staff reports, board presentations, funding narratives, and implementation roadmaps—so insight moves quickly from analysis to action.
How we work:
Start with local conditions: land, water, infrastructure, labor, and institutions
Use verified, auditable data aligned with state and federal frameworks
Translate complexity into decision-ready formats
Design work products that support policy, funding, and implementation
Build analysis that can scale and be reused over time
-
Our values reflect how public agencies actually operate—and what they are accountable for. We believe good analysis should clarify choices, not complicate them. It should respect the history and constraints of a place while helping leaders plan responsibly for the future. And it should hold up under public scrutiny, audits, and long-term use.
What guides our work:
Integrity in Data – We rely on real, traceable sources and transparent methods
Respect for Place – Local history, geography, and institutions matter
Public Accountability – Our work is built to withstand public and political review
Practical Rigor – Advanced analysis that remains understandable and usable
Long-Term Thinking – Strategies designed for durability, not one-time reports
-
Made Strategies was created out of lived experience—not theory.
Our work is shaped by years spent inside local government, working across community development, economic development, housing, permitting, CEQA processes, and public decision-making. We have written staff reports that had to survive council scrutiny, prepared presentations that had to withstand public comment, and implemented programs that had to work with real budgets, real timelines, and real political constraints.
That experience revealed a persistent problem: too many agencies are asked to rely on consulting products that are expensive, disconnected from daily operations, and difficult to apply once the contract ends. Reports that sit on shelves. Analyses that don’t align with funding rules. Strategies that sound good but cannot be implemented with existing staff or processes.
Made Strategies exists to change that.
We believe analysis should be built for how government actually works. That means understanding land use and entitlement realities, how CEQA decisions are made, how housing and infrastructure are financed, how departments coordinate internally, and how information is presented to boards, councils, and the public. It also means respecting the history and constraints of a place while helping leaders make defensible, forward-looking decisions.
Our goal is simple: to produce work that agencies can use immediately, explain confidently, and rely on long after delivery. Work that supports funding, policy, and implementation—not just discussion.
Made Strategies is grounded in practice, informed by data, and driven by a commitment to help communities make better decisions with the resources they already have.
Who We Are
Meet the Founder
Erick Becerril, MPA
Erick Becerril is the founder of Made Strategies and a local government practitioner with more than a decade of experience across community development, economic development, housing, permitting, and CEQA-informed decision-making. He has spent his career working inside public agencies—writing staff reports, preparing board presentations, and implementing programs that must withstand public scrutiny and deliver real outcomes.
Erick holds a Master of Public Administration and is currently completing his Doctorate in Public Administration at California Baptist University, where his academic work focuses on government leadership, economic systems, and institutional performance. This academic foundation informs a disciplined, data-driven approach, while his professional experience ensures that every analysis is practical, defensible, and usable by agency staff.
